About us

Momentom collective aspires to act as a catalyst for social change. We take yoga and circus outside of studios and into the humanitarian field. Support for Momentom Collective is rooted in the recognition that yoga, circus and partner acrobatics possess unique attributes that bring particular value to development and peace processes.

Our business structure is created to make our social responsibility program thrive !
Momentom & Studio CirQus created an NGO which is funded by our activities. We dive into the humanitarian field, refugee camps, communities- to demonstrate the incredible impact of yoga and circus arts. To prove this, we collaborate with Neurotracker to measure the progress of cognitive function and trauma alleviation through these disciplines.

Momentom makes accessible the healing attributes of yoga and circus arts through a collective mindset. As trainers in our respective disciplines, we’ve seen first hand how mindfulness , self-expression and self exploration- possess unique attributes that bring value to self-development and collective peace processes.

Momentom is based in Montreal and expanding into Nicaragua and Central America with an international reach and cultural exchange. We are rooted in our values:

Action

  • Be the change you want to see in the world. We see the inequality, divide and disconnection left in the trace of our capitalist system. We also see the infinite benefits of play, introspection and self-expression that arise from practicing yoga and circus arts. We give back by entering the humanitarian field, refugee camps, war torn countries, schools ect.

Authenticity

  • Today you are you. That is truer than true. There is no one alive who is you-er than you. – Dr Seuss. We aspire to act with the best intentions without exception. To be true to what makes us thrive as people.

Creativity

  • We believe the movement is inherently creative. We believe in the power of original choreography and original thinking, and work to support out of the box thinking.

Compassion

  • We act with the idea to do onto others what we’d like to have done to us.

Cooperation & Participation

  • Our collective is committed to a participatory ethic. We believe that we are stronger toghether. We believe that transformative change, whether in the individual or in society, can occur only through the medium of deeply personal participation. Our business model is based on consensus and open cooperation practices. We strive to produce, promote and protect space that support such interaction through our classes and performances.

 Community building

  • We believe the circus and yoga have powerful abilities to bring people together, whether through play or shared space for meditation. We believe the circus itself is multi-faceted: a form of art, a social instrument, a vehicle self-empowerment. All comprise part of the community, and all are valued.

Experience

  • “Today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday”- Dale Carnegie.

We drop into the now and strive to be present. Immediate experience is, in many ways, the most important touchstone of value in our culture.. We understand that no idea or intellectual understanding can substitute the experience.

Inclusion-

  • No prerequisites exist for participation in the momentom community. We strive for horizontality in our relationships. We welcome everyone and are constantly driven by enhancing our artistic knowledge.

Leaving No Trace

  • Leave more than what you take. We are committed to cleaning up after ourselves and endeavor, whenever possible, to leave such places in a better state than when we found them.

Self-expression

  • While yoga is the dissolution of the self, circus is the exploration of all your selves. Yoga allows you to discover the power of awareness. Circus provides infinite possibilities of self-expression through non-traditional, communication and expression. In this spirit, the collective promotes all self-expression- from the inside out.

Playfulness

  • Don’t take anything too seriously- everything is non-permanent. Circus is seriously playful and playfully serious.
